There were those situations where there could have been a better choice made but look at all the people today that he has inspired. I think about my life all the time and how it could be just like his if I put my mind to it. NO NOT THE DRUG PART OF HIS LIFE!, but the way that people remember him. He had a dream that he wanted to fulfill but there were those road blocks that everyone has in everyday life. I look back at the life that I lived as a young child and I don't want that life for me. I know that... I am 17 years old now and I watched his movie when I was eight. I thought that it was going to be dumb and it wasn't going to have any meaning to it... but I got done watching it and as I sat there and thought about all the times that I only thought of the way that my life was going to be and how it couldn't change anyone else's. I focused on what I could do for myself and not that I could change it for the person sitting next to me. I started using drugs, not as heavily as Ray but I got off and it still taught me a big lesson and I will never forget all the things that I have gone through to get to the point that I am at today. Thanks RAY CHARLES! you really are an inspiration! Ray Charles is a very good person. Ray Charles did not have to say listen to me, but his music and voice made you get close to his music. His movement on the piano as he played and song with feelings just made one stand up and salute. And speaking of saluting, the song "America" allowed one to feel what he was singing. A person felt his voice of America in their heart and in their bones. It brought tears to ones eyes and chills to body. It made you feel that you were proud to be an american. It was an honor to type this because it is so true.
